What I keep, and for how long.
Your photos are private to you unless you tell me otherwise. Here is exactly what this site stores about you.
Where it lives
Everything below is kept in one database and a set of private folders on the studio's own server. No outside company stores your details, your photographs or your activity for me.
There are no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on this site, and the fonts are served from here, so visiting a page tells nobody else that you did.
What is kept
- Your inquiry
- Your name, email, phone number if you give one, the kind of session, your preferred dates, whether the person being photographed is under 18, and your message. I use it to reply and to plan your session.
- How longDeleted after 12 months if we don't book. If we do, it stays with your shoot's records.
- Emails I send you
- A copy of each message the site writes to you (the reply to your inquiry, your booking confirmation, your gallery link and code), kept in my studio so I can see what was sent.
- How longKept with your inquiry or your shoot, and removed with them.
- Your photographs
- The files I deliver and the smaller copies your gallery shows, in private storage that only your link, your code or I can open. Location and camera serial numbers are stripped from every copy you see.
- How longFor as long as I'm in business, so you can come back to them. If you ask me to remove your gallery, I do.
- Your gallery link and code
- Each person gets their own link and typed code. I keep only a keyed fingerprint of each (so the site can recognize it) and an encrypted copy (so I can resend it without changing it).
- How longUntil the gallery is removed. I can revoke and reissue one person's link at any time.
- Gallery activity
- When each person opens the gallery, marks or unmarks a favorite, sends picks, saves or downloads a photo, and creates or removes a guest link. It tells me whose picks are whose and helps me fix things when something doesn't work.
- How longDeleted after 2 years.
- Favorites and picks
- Kept per person. A guest you share your gallery with is asked once for a name and email before their first favorite, so I know whose picks they are.
- How longKept with your gallery until you ask me to delete them.
- Signed releases
- Only if you agree that a photograph may be shown publicly: the signed release (a PDF or a phone photo of it), who signed it, and whether they signed as a parent or guardian. Stored privately.
- How longKept with your shoot's records, so I can show the permission existed.
- Security records
- When someone sends the inquiry form, types a gallery code or asks for a lost code, the site keeps a keyed hash of the connection's IP address (never the address itself) to slow down guessing and spam.
- How longDeleted after 24 hours.
- Backups
- Copies of the database and the private folders, so a broken disk can never lose your gallery. They are private and follow the same rules as everything above.
- How longReplaced as newer backups are made.
Cookies and your browser
- A gallery cookie, set when you open your gallery. It is sent only to that gallery's pages, keeps you signed in for up to a year, and cannot be read by scripts.
- A note in your browser that you have already seen your gallery's opening, so it is quicker next time. Favorites in the demo gallery stay in your browser and never reach me.
- A studio cookie that only I have, for signing in to manage the site.
No advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing shared with other sites.
If a photograph becomes public
Your photographs are private by default. One of them appears on this site only if you agree, everyone in it has signed a release (a parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18), and I then choose that one photograph myself. There is no setting that publishes a whole gallery.
You can change your mind at any time. I take the photograph down, and it disappears from this site at once. Link previews already shown in other apps can take longer to clear, and I will ask the ones I can to refresh.
Public pages never show where or when a session happened.
Others involved
If you pay a retainer, you pay on the payment provider's page that my email links to. I never see your card number. The Instagram link at the foot of the page leaves this site.
Sessions for someone under 18 are booked with a parent or guardian, who also receives the gallery. A guest under 13 who wants to mark favorites should ask a parent to enter their name and email.
Your choices
Ask me any time to see, correct or delete what I keep about you. I can remove your names, emails, favorites and activity while keeping your photographs for you, or remove everything.
